I’ve recently been toying with Ben Day Dots in my artwork, and I really liked the way they were coming out. As most people know, one of my big pushes in my artwork is to be accessible to poet’s who are looking to use pieces in their books. The Ben Day Dot style was one that I felt could carry a book, but with out having a large enough library of examples it was hard to really demonstrate why. So I decided to make a poetry book using hand inked dot styles to demonstrate how it could be used. Here are some early examples:

So after that I started to template the story. It’s still kind of evolving, but the general idea is an artist who feels stuck and bored. They get inspired after a night out meeting a girl who teases him. They work together on an art project, and when it does well he doesn’t credit her, so she leaves. This causes him to become uninspired, sad, and alone, returning to feeling futile in his life with no escape. It is all written in poems, and is meant to more give a feel then to offer a direct story.
